Prints & Photographs Department

The Prints and Photographs Department holds more than 200,000 graphic images, including photographs, slides, postcards, broadsides, prints, negatives, and maps. These items date from the mid-1600s to the present and feature many unique items such as illustrated newspapers, drawings, sketches, daguerreotypes, tintypes, stereograph cards, and glass plate negatives.

Online submissions in the Prints and Photographs Department will resume on August 11, 2025, in conjunction with the re-opening of the Moorland Reading Room. If you have submitted a permissions form via email and have not yet received a reply, we encourage you to resubmit the form via the online submission page link on or after August 11. Requests will be reviewed in the order in which they are received.  

Permission forms and requests will only be processed via the submission page.
